Innovative, smart, sustainable: The magic word for the mobility of the future is change – movement in the truest sense of the word. Unique, individual surface designs meet atmospheric lighting concepts and seamlessly integrated controls. For the FrontIQ Light Concept, LEONHARD KURZ has pooled its expertise and brought together the skills of partner companies to create a unique design highlight for the automotive exterior sector.
There are no second chances for first impressions – and the FrontIQ Light Concept is sure to be remembered for its visionary design. LEONHARD KURZ has once again pooled its expertise in surface design and technology and, together with its partners Swarovski Mobility and SP3, developed a demonstrator that will change the concept of automotive exterior design for the future.
When design ideas and technological innovation merge in symbiosis, very special solutions are created. Together with Swarovski Mobility and lighting specialist SP3, KURZ has created a visual and technological highlight that combines the emotional lighting effect, structure, and surface for automotive exterior design in a seamless headlight concept component. Integrated Swarovski crystals are an eye-catching feature that creates a unique aesthetic. Fine carbon structures with fascinating holographic effects on the inner edge of the headlight create exciting depth effects that guarantee recognition value. The sophisticated light architecture of the front headlights and a play of materials consisting of transparent and opaque plastic components coated with a robust, self-healing PUR coating round off the design composition. The component is produced on the machine of KURZ partner KraussMaffei. The polyurethane (PUR) protective coating comes from partner company Rühl, while the materials for the frame come from SABIC and Covestro. KURZ subsidiary Schöfer was also involved as a specialist in toolmaking.
The FrontIQ Light Concept can already be manufactured in series production using a lean, efficient production process. The high degree of design freedom allows for brand-specific adaptations. In addition, heating elements can be integrated into the component as required. KURZ's broad product and technology portfolio also enables the development of targeted and customer-specific design solutions.
At the IAA MOBILITY 2025 automotive trade fair from September 9–14 in Munich, we showcased our FrontIQ Light Concept component demonstrator and other solutions in action at the KURZ booth in Hall A1, Booth C21. At K 2025 in Düsseldorf from October 8–15, we demonstrated live production using the highly efficient 3K process with VARIOFORM® Plus technology on the machine from KURZ partner KraussMaffei in Hall 5, Booth A19.
