What are the goals behind the KURZ SCRIBOS brand?

Jürgen Metzger: To protect products as effectively as possible against counterfeiting and to be a reliable partner for our customers. With KURZ SCRIBOS, we strategically combine our strengths and continuously advance integrated solutions that merge optical and digital security features. Another key focus is the development of forward-looking product protection solutions. This allows us to support our customers holistically - from the initial idea to the concrete implementation of their projects. Our ambition is to take a leading global role in brand protection and to be the go-to partner for protecting products and brands.

What were the strategic reasons for introducing the KURZ SCRIBOS brand?

Tobias Kresse: A key driver was the targeted use of synergies, particularly through combining existing technological solutions. At the same time, the new structure increases effectiveness in both internal and external sales and brings together the expertise of KURZ and SCRIBOS. Instead of operating in isolated teams with internal competition, we now present ourselves in a unified and clearly positioned way - both internally and externally. Against the backdrop of the continuously growing number of counterfeit products, this allows us to strengthen our strategic positioning even further.

 

What solutions and technologies are offered under the KURZ SCRIBOS brand - and in which markets are they used?

Tobias Kresse: Our product portfolio includes optical, digital, and hybrid security solutions. Key components include TRUSTSEAL®, a unique holographic security feature available as a hot stamping or cold transfer application, ValiGate® as a printed security solution, and VeoMark® as a label. The offering is complemented by the SCRIBOS 360 platform, which provides comprehensive digital functions for brand protection and product authentication. These solutions are used across all markets, as every manufactured product is at risk of being counterfeited.

 

Where are optical and digital security solutions applied?

Jürgen Metzger: Optical security features are used when the security element on the product needs to be verified with the naked eye. They are easy to check and difficult to replicate. Digital security solutions are used when digital functionality is required - for example, in customer loyalty programs or track-and-trace applications. Of course, combining both is also possible. The German Innovation Award 2026 for the newly developed TRUSTSEAL® ID demonstrates how pioneering and unique this integration is.

 

How do our customers benefit from KURZ SCRIBOS?

Jürgen Metzger: Since the requirements in brand protection are highly diverse, our customers benefit from the breadth of our offering. As mentioned, we provide both optical and digital solutions in the security sector. Bringing them together under KURZ SCRIBOS makes the comprehensive brand protection portfolio visible and addresses all relevant market requirements.

Tobias Kresse: Success is based on three elements: complex optical security features, flexible digital functionality, and the analysis of results obtained from both optical and digital verification. The combination of these modules is what defines KURZ SCRIBOS brand protection solutions.

 

How will the product protection market develop from KURZ’s perspective?

Tobias Kresse: In the coming years, we see market development in product protection as a combination of proven security features and new digital possibilities. Digitalization, increasingly complex supply chains, and rising customer  expectations are transforming the market worldwide. Optical security features will remain important because they are visible and build trust. At the same time, data-driven solutions are becoming increasingly significant. The key is to combine both in a meaningful way to effectively protect products. With our portfolio of optical and digital solutions, we are very well positioned for this development.
