Koi Can makes an impression - Double success for ISIMAT

When technology meets creativity - and the result wins two international awards - it is not only a reason to celebrate, but also impressive proof of what is possible in terms of aesthetic design and innovative strength at KURZ and its subsidiaries.

At the end of 2024, the so-called ‘Koi Can’ from ISIMAT - an innovatively refined can prototype - scored points at two top-class industry events: Asia CanTech in Vietnam and Cosmopack India in Mumbai. The Koi Can was honored in the categories ‘Design Concept’ and ‘Packaging: Design & Materials’. What at first sounds like a brilliant design actually goes much deeper: Behind the impressive surface is a patented technology that sets new standards in the field of decoration technology.

At Asia CanTech 2024, Jochen Grabert, Director New Business Development at ISIMAT, was presented with the ‘Design Concept Award’ for the ‘Koi Can’. The artistically designed can impressed the jury with its creativity and technical sophistication.

More than just beautifully packaged - what makes the Koi Can special

The Koi Can is far more than just an eye-catcher. Its surface shimmers metallically, reflecting the light in the finest nuances - like the scales of a koi carp, which gave the can its name. The metallic aesthetic is not just an end in itself, but the expression of a well-thought-out concept: Premium character and sustainability are not mutually exclusive - on the contrary. It was precisely this combination that convinced the juries of the two awards. At the Cosmopack India Awards, the ‘special attractiveness at the point of sale’ was particularly emphasized. And in Vietnam at Asia CanTech, the jury also praised the technological innovation as ‘outstanding’.
 

But behind the extraordinary look lies a technological sophistication that is second to none: The special feature of the Koi Can is the use of inLINE FOILING® - a finishing technology developed by ISIMAT that integrates metallic effects directly and seamlessly into the printing process. And without additional labels or foils. This saves material, simplifies processes - and at the same time opens up completely new possibilities in packaging design. 

Technology meets team spirit

For Torsten Hirschnitz, CEO of ISIMAT, the double award is more than just a great success. "We are honored that the Koi Can was able to convince in two competitions. This recognition encourages us to continue developing future-oriented packaging solutions and redefining technological boundaries," he says.
